KNX system maintenance

Preventive maintenance, remote access, diagnostics and upgrades of existing systems

Amplituda’s service does not end when the system is commissioned. Over the years, KNX and other integrated technical systems need checks, adjustments, diagnostics and occasional upgrades to remain reliable. Amplituda bases its maintenance on knowledge of the installed equipment, the automation logic and how the building is actually used. The service can include periodic inspections, remote administration, troubleshooting and extending existing functions.

We work successfully with leading Facility Management companies in Croatia in the field of KNX intelligent systems. This approach is particularly important in buildings where several systems must work reliably as a single whole.

Prevention before downtime

In integrated systems, a small problem can affect several functions of a building, so it is better to spot irregularities before they cause downtime. Periodic checks can cover the behaviour of the automation, device communication, the operation of user interfaces and other elements that matter for the specific project. Preventive maintenance is not a universal checklist; it is tailored to the equipment and the importance of each system.

In commercial buildings and buildings under Facility Management, this approach helps to plan work and reduce unplanned call-outs, while in residences it gives the user greater confidence that everyday functions will remain reliable.

Diagnostics and remote support

When the system has been prepared for it, some checks and diagnostics can be carried out via remote access. This can speed up identifying the cause of a problem, checking certain settings or assessing whether a technician needs to visit the site. Remote administration is particularly useful for buildings that are not in constant use, such as villas, holiday apartments or certain vessels.

The access method must be defined in line with the security requirements of the project. The aim is not to replace on-site service, but to enable faster initial diagnostics and more efficient planning of an intervention when it is really needed.

System extensions and adjustments

Users’ needs change after they move in and throughout the life cycle of a building. New rooms, a different usage pattern, additional heating zones, new lighting, sensors, visualisation or audio/video equipment may be needed. The open architecture of a KNX system allows a well-planned installation to be adapted and extended without replacing the entire existing infrastructure, depending on the condition of the system and the available components.

Our company can analyse the existing solution and propose an extension that fits the existing logic. This protects the investment in automation by allowing it to develop gradually, instead of the system remaining frozen in the state it was in when first installed.

Support throughout the life cycle

The best conditions for maintenance are created as early as the design phase: clear documentation, a well-organised topology, properly labelled equipment and well-understood operating logic make later servicing much easier. That is why Amplituda sees maintenance as a continuation of design and integration, not as a completely separate service.

Long-term support can include periodic checks, servicing, programme adjustments and upgrades in line with changes in the building. What matters most to the user is that, even after many years, the system remains understandable, serviceable and ready for new needs, without unnecessary reliance on temporary fixes or disconnected add-ons.

In the long term, an intelligent system is only worth as much as it is reliable, documented and ready for servicing and future changes. Preventive checks and good diagnostics can solve a problem before it becomes a nuisance in the everyday use of the building.
