Gira – intelligent control and design

Lighting, shading and temperature connected in a system tailored to you

A smart home shows its value when the technology becomes almost invisible. Lighting adapts to the time of day, blinds respond to the sun, the temperature is comfortable before the occupants arrive, and security and multimedia functions are available through a simple, consistent interface.

Gira develops electrical installation and intelligent systems that combine functionality, quality and distinctive German design. As one of the pioneers of KNX technology, Gira offers a wide range of devices for automating private homes, villas, residential buildings, hotels, offices and other demanding buildings.

Amplituda designs, installs and programs Gira equipment as part of complete KNX systems tailored to the space and its users.

From a conventional switch to an intelligent system

The Gira range covers much more than switches and sockets. It includes KNX push-buttons and sensors, room controllers, touch panels, automation servers, door communication systems, security devices and components for controlling lighting, blinds, heating and other functions.

All components can be visually coordinated through Gira’s various design lines. Switches, sockets, push-buttons, thermostats and communication devices thus become part of a shared visual language of the interior.

Collections such as Gira E2, Gira Esprit, Gira Studio and Standard 55 offer different combinations of shapes, colours and materials. Depending on the desired style, control elements can blend almost invisibly into the wall or become a striking architectural detail.

What does a Gira KNX system make possible?

KNX is an open international standard that allows devices and technical systems from different manufacturers to be connected. Instead of a series of separate solutions, the user gets a single system in which individual functions exchange information with each other.

A Gira KNX solution can bring together control of:

  • indoor and outdoor lighting
  • roller shutters, venetian blinds, awnings and curtains
  • heating, cooling and ventilation
  • scenes and time programmes
  • energy consumption
  • security and alarm functions
  • door intercom, cameras and access control
  • audio and video systems
  • electrical appliances and selected IoT solutions.

Functions can be activated with a wall push-button, a central screen, a mobile app or automatically — based on time, occupancy, temperature, the amount of daylight or other conditions.

For example, a “Leaving” scene can switch off the lights, lower the temperature, close the blinds and activate security functions. An “Evening” scene can dim the lights, draw the curtains and start the desired multimedia content.

Gira X1 – the heart of a KNX smart home

The Gira X1 is a compact server developed for the automation and visualisation of KNX systems in houses, apartments and other buildings. It connects different devices, performs automated tasks and enables control via an app.

With the Gira Smart Home app, the user can view and control lighting, blinds, heating, scenes, time programmes and other functions. The interface can be organised by room and according to the user’s needs.

The Gira X1 supports logic functions for creating more advanced automations. For example, the system can lower the blinds only when the sun is strong enough, the room is overheating and no window is open.

With the appropriate equipment, secure remote control and maintenance are possible, which makes it easier to monitor the system and provide technical support.

Gira HomeServer for demanding projects

The Gira HomeServer is designed for larger KNX projects that require a large number of functions, advanced visualisation, complex automations and the integration of additional systems.

It can bring together data and commands related to lighting, blinds, air conditioning, energy, security, multimedia and other technical subsystems. Thanks to its flexibility, it is used in luxury residences, larger residential buildings and commercial buildings.

Amplituda configures the user interface and system logic according to how the building is actually used. The goal is not to display as much technical data as possible, but to give the user a clear overview and simple access to the most important functions.

Gira G1 – touch control

The Gira G1 is a central wall-mounted control interface for the smart home. Its screen allows various functions to be viewed and controlled for a single room or the entire building.

The Gira G1 can be used to control lighting, blinds, temperature, scenes and other KNX functions. Depending on the configuration, it can also be connected to the Gira door communication system and serve as an indoor station.

Its minimalist look allows it to fit into contemporary interiors without visually cluttering the wall.

Gira One – an easier way into automation

The Gira One system is based on KNX technology but focuses on simpler design and commissioning. It is intended for residential projects in which the user wants reliable automation of lighting, blinds, temperature, security and access without unnecessarily complex control.

Users can activate scenes with wall push-buttons, via the Gira G1 screen or the mobile app. The system can be adapted to different rooms and residents’ habits, and users can change certain settings later through the app.

The push-button as an intuitive control interface

In a KNX installation, a single Gira button can have several functions. A short press can switch on the lighting, a long press can adjust its intensity, and an additional button can trigger a scene or control the blinds.

Gira KNX push-buttons can be labelled with text or symbols so that their functions are clear to all users. Selected models provide feedback via LED indicators and can be combined with temperature sensors and room controllers.

This reduces the number of control elements on the wall and makes the space easier to use.

Automation that improves energy efficiency

A KNX system can help use energy more rationally without compromising comfort. Lighting can be switched off when nobody is in the room, heating and cooling adjusted to the schedule, and blinds used to reduce overheating in summer or make use of solar heat in winter.

By linking sensors, weather data and information on the status of individual systems, it is possible to automate responses that the user would otherwise have to carry out manually.

In larger buildings, a central overview makes it easier to identify unnecessary consumption and manage different parts of the building more efficiently.

Security and access control

Gira solutions can be connected to the door intercom, cameras, smoke detectors, alarm functions and presence simulation.

When someone rings the bell, the visitor’s image can be shown on the indoor station. When leaving the building, the system can check that the windows are closed, switch off selected appliances and activate security mode.

During periods of absence, presence simulation can automatically control the lighting and blinds to make the building look occupied.

Amplituda – from idea to a fully integrated system

Gira equipment delivers its full potential when the system is well designed and tailored to the user.

Amplituda analyses the client’s needs, the way the space is used and the options for future upgrades. We design the KNX infrastructure, select the appropriate Gira devices and define the functions of push-buttons, screens, apps, scenes and automated processes.

Our work covers integration, programming, commissioning, testing, documentation, maintenance and later upgrades of the system. Where needed, we connect Gira equipment with devices from other KNX manufacturers and with lighting, air conditioning, multimedia and security systems.

The goal is to create a reliable solution that remains intuitive to use and adaptable to the future needs of the building.

If you would like to install Gira KNX technology in your home, hotel or commercial space, get in touch with us. Together we will define a solution that is functional, aesthetically consistent and sustainable in the long term.
