Basalte Home

Lighting, music and comfort in a single system

A smart home should make everyday life easier. Lighting, blinds, temperature and music should be available exactly where you need them, with controls that every member of the household understands. It is just as important that the technology blends naturally into the space.

Basalte combines this approach with particular attention to design. The Belgian manufacturer develops control elements and systems for intelligent homes in which appearance, materials and user experience form a single whole. Its products are hand-assembled in Belgium, and their distinctive design allows different elements in the interior to be coordinated.

Design that becomes part of the interior

We use switches and control panels every day, and their position and appearance affect how a space is experienced. That is why Basalte approaches them as carefully designed interior details.

One example is Sentido, a touch switch available with two or four control surfaces. Depending on the version, finishes include brushed aluminium, black, white, bronze, brushed brass and other variants. The control element can thus blend discreetly with the colour of the wall or stand out alongside stone, wood and metal details.

Sentido supports touch control of room functions, while multi-touch enables additional actions, such as switching all the lights on or off together. The final behaviour is set through programming according to the user’s needs.

Basalte Home connects everyday functions

Basalte Home brings together control of lighting, blinds, climate, music and supported security functions. The user accesses them via the app and the corresponding control elements, with a clear interface organised by room and lifestyle.

Scenes are particularly practical: predefined combinations of several actions. For example, an evening relaxation scene can dim the lights, close the curtains and start the music. A morning scene can create a different atmosphere, suited to the start of the day.

Such features make sense when they follow the household’s real habits. The aim is to reduce repetitive actions and provide simple access to the most frequently used functions.

KNX as the link to the building’s installations

Basalte is particularly interesting when designing homes with a KNX installation. Its Core servers have a direct KNX connection and serve as the central part of the Basalte Home system, linking room control with visualisation and supported integrations.

It is important to distinguish between choosing individual KNX control elements and implementing a complete Basalte Home system. The equipment required depends on the desired functions, the size of the building and the other systems to be connected.

That is why, before choosing products, it is important to define what will be controlled with push-buttons, what via a screen or app, and which actions will run automatically.

Music that follows the way you use your home

The Basalte range also includes a multi-zone audio system, allowing music to become part of everyday home control. Playback is available through the app, control elements and scenes, with the appropriate system configuration.

Different speaker versions allow the system to be adapted to the interior: from the Aalto designer models to the Plano in-wall speakers and the discreet Cielo ceiling speakers. Asano comprises amplifiers for distributing sound throughout the space.

For a high-quality result, speaker positions, acoustics and cabling infrastructure need to be matched to the purpose of each room. Music then becomes a natural part of the home, with equipment chosen to suit the space and the listener’s expectations.

A consistent experience from the entrance to the living room

The range also extends to communication at the entrance. Adelante is a modular video door station for Basalte Home, with access control options that depend on the chosen configuration. Its finishes allow the door station to be visually linked with elements inside the home.

Inside, the Lisa, Ellie and Lena touch screens offer different formats for controlling the system. The size and position of each screen should be adapted to the space: quick access on entering, control of an individual room or a wider overview of the home.

Basalte and Amplituda: from idea to a well-designed system

For a project with Amplituda, the starting point is your needs, the architecture of the space and how you expect to use it. The choice of finishes is coordinated with the planning of lighting, blinds, air conditioning, network infrastructure and audio/video systems.

These decisions are best made before the finishing works, while the positions of control elements, back boxes, cable routes and the location of the central equipment can still be coordinated. Clearly defined functions and documented settings also make later maintenance and adjustments easier.
