PEAKnx – KNX touch panels and servers for smart buildings

ALL KEY FUNCTIONS OF YOUR SPACE ON A SINGLE SCREEN

PEAKnx is a German manufacturer of hardware and software for KNX building automation based in Darmstadt. The company is part of the PEAK Group, which has been developing communication technologies for more than 30 years and has left a significant mark on networking in the automotive industry with the CAN bus. Since 2014, PEAKnx has been transferring this fieldbus experience to the world of smart homes and buildings.

At the heart of the range are touch panels with an integrated KNX interface, KNX servers and the company’s own YOUVI visualisation. The products are developed and manufactured in Germany from industrial-grade components, with an emphasis on longevity, silent operation and flawless workmanship. The result is control centres that bring lighting, shading, heating, cooling, multimedia and door communication together in a single clear and elegant interface – today and for the future needs of the building.

PEAKnx control 16

Touch panels that are more than a display

PEAKnx touch panels are not tablets on the wall, but fully-fledged computers running Windows IoT Enterprise LTSC with an integrated KNX interface. The range comprises four sizes: the compact 8-inch Controlmicro for room control, the versatile 11.6-inch Control 12, the 15.6-inch Control 16 with a generous screen area and the top-of-the-range 18.5-inch Controlpro. Each panel can work as a standalone KNX server with visualisation or as a client of an existing system.

Fanless passive cooling, sophisticated thermal management and industrial-grade components ensure silent, reliable and uninterrupted operation for many years. Depending on the model, the panels can be flush-mounted, surface-mounted or installed flush with the wall, while interchangeable glass fronts in black, white or a custom design blend harmoniously into any interior and architectural concept.

KNX servers for reliable central control

For buildings where control should work discreetly in the background, PEAKnx offers two KNX servers with YOUVI visualisation included. The Home Automation Server is a compact DIN-rail device for the distribution board, designed for detached and semi-detached houses and smaller KNX projects. The Performance Server is a professional 19-inch rack solution with performance reserves for luxury villas, commercial buildings and complex installations with a large number of data points and simultaneous users.

An optional backup package adds a second 250 GB SSD and a USB stick for system recovery. Both servers feature a built-in KNX IP router, so no additional hardware is required, and YOUVI can be used on a smartphone, tablet, Windows PC or touch panel, with voice control via Amazon Alexa or Apple Home.

PEAKnx YOUVI Software

YOUVI – visualisation that grows with you

YOUVI is the Red Dot award-winning PEAKnx visualisation, and the YOUVI Basic package is included free of charge with every panel and server. It combines visualisation, a KNX IP router and a bus monitor for quickly detecting and fixing faults on the KNX bus.

The visualisation is created automatically by importing an existing ETS project, and scenes are put together simply by drag and drop. Following the add-on principle, functions are extended only when they are needed: the Connect module adds remote control via the app and voice commands, including the local cloud-free Aragon, the Camera module displays video surveillance, and the Logic module enables “if–then” routines and presence simulation.

Add-ons are purchased once per building, with no subscription, and the free YOUVI app for iOS and Android is available in light and dark mode.

Modernisation and integration without compromise

PEAKnx also makes it easy to upgrade existing installations. Around twenty replacement kits allow more than 35 types of outdated KNX panels from manufacturers such as JUNG, Gira, ABB, Busch-Jaeger, Berker or Merten to be replaced with a modern PEAKnx panel, in most cases keeping the existing flush-mounted box and without any additional chiselling of the wall. The panels connect to numerous SIP door stations, including DoorBird, 2N, Siedle and Mobotix, and take over the role of the indoor unit with video.

Bridges to Sonos, Revox, Philips Hue or Fronius extend control beyond the KNX standard, while the KNX Modbus Gateway connects photovoltaic systems, EV chargers and modern heating systems to KNX. Thanks to the Windows platform, other visualisations such as Gira QuadClient or Home Assistant also run on the panels.

PEAKnx Amplituda

Amplituda – your partner for PEAKnx solutions

As a PEAKnx partner, Amplituda supplies, installs and integrates their panels and servers into KNX systems tailored to the specific space. The process starts with an analysis of the building, the desired functions and the way the space is used, followed by the selection of the right panel or server, mounting type and glass finish. Amplituda creates and customises the YOUVI visualisation, programs scenes, logic and routines, and connects the panel to lighting, shading, heating, cooling, ventilation, door communication, video surveillance and multimedia.

Particular attention is paid to keeping the interface clear and simple for all household members and users. After commissioning, we provide support, remote diagnostics, maintenance and upgrades, and when modernising existing systems we recommend the most suitable kit for replacing the old panel.
